Baja California, Mexico
About Ensenada
Ensenada sits on the Pacific coast of Baja California, about 70 miles south of the US/Mexico border. This region is called la frontera (the borderland), a space where two countries and their cultures blend.
Tucked between the ocean and the mountains, the city’s harbor is a destination for international shipping alongside cruise ships carrying more than a million visitors a year. The city’s military base and sprawling agricultural fields, which export fruits, vegetables, and flowers to American markets, also contribute to the city’s economic life.
People come to Ensenada from across Mexico in search of opportunity, and many stay, putting down roots and building their lives here.
Like most cities, Ensenada has deep strengths alongside real challenges, and systems that don’t always serve the people who need them most.
Support the Work
Behind this work are local leaders who have dedicated their lives to loving and serving their communities. A monthly gift allows us to partner reliably and make the kind of consistent investment that leads to long-term impact.
Our Local Staff
Ben and Amy Carnall, along with their four children, moved from eastern Pennsylvania to Ensenada in the spring of 2023. What drew them was the chance to become part of a community, learn from local leaders, and join in their work. Ben’s ability to construct or fix almost anything helps provide local leaders with the physical spaces they need, and Amy’s background in non-profit project management helps translate local needs into something partners can understand and respond to.
